Hydrocyclone Feed Pump

1. Working principle of the hydrocyclone feed pump : inject the qualified mixture of two phases (light phase and heavy phase) to be separated into the hydrocyclone with a certain flow and pressure to complete the two-phase separation in the hydrocyclone.

2. What is a hydrocyclone?

Hydrocyclone is an equipment for material separation by centrifugation and sedimentation. It receives the two-phase (light phase and heavy phase) mixture with certain pressure from the hydrocyclone feed pump, and forms a strong rotary motion in the hydrocyclone. Due to the difference of density or particle size, the centrifugal force and fluid drag force of the two phases are different, so as to achieve the purpose of separating the two phases.

3. Precautions for type selection of hydrocyclone feed pump

1) Select appropriate materials of overflow parts: according to different fluid characteristics, appropriate materials of overflow parts shall be selected during type selection of hydrocyclone feed pump to meet the expected service life requirements;

2) Select the pump with appropriate speed: according to the difference of particle size and fluid density, the appropriate speed shall be selected during the selection of hydrocyclone feed pump, so as to achieve the purpose of economy and applicability;

3) Try to select the pump with large impeller flow particle size: due to the influence of particle size and concentration of two-phase mixed liquid, the pump with large impeller flow particle size shall be selected as far as possible in the selection of hydrocyclone feed pump, so as to avoid the blockage of particles in the impeller channel;

4) Certain upward and downward adjustment space shall be reserved: affected by fluid density, pipeline layout and inlet pressure of hydrocyclone, certain upward and downward adjustment space shall be reserved during type selection of hydrocyclone feed pump, so as to avoid timely and effective compensation in case of changes in fluid density, pipeline parameters and inlet pressure of hydrocyclone;

5) Variable frequency motor shall be used as much as possible: due to the influence of 4) factors, variable frequency motor shall be used as much as possible when selecting the hydrocyclone feed pump, and there shall be a certain power margin, so as to avoid being limited by the motor power during upward adjustment and unable to meet the industrial and mining needs.
