The need for FGD in power plant

    Thermal power plants use coal as the main fuel for power generation. Direct combustion of coal will release a large amount of SO2, which will cause atmospheric pollution. Therefore, the control of SO2 emissions from power plants is a common problem faced by the whole world. There are three ways to control SO2: desulphurization before combustion, desulphurization during combustion, and desulphurization after combustion (i.e. flue gas desulphurization FGD). At present, FGD is regarded as the most effective way to control SO2, and it is also the only desulphurization method for large-scale commercial application in the world.

 

The process of FGD in power plant

    At present, dozens of effective FGD technologies have been developed all over the world, and their basic principle is to use an alkaline substance as SO2 absorbent, that is, desulfurizer. The main process design of most flue gas desulphurization processes is basically similar, and the desulphurization equipment is composed of the following systems: flue gas system, absorber desulphurization system, desulfurizer slurry preparation system, by-product treatment system, wastewater treatment system and other systems. Among them, the limestone / gypsum desulphurization process with gypsum as by-product is relatively mature. Therefore, when selecting the FGD equipment of thermal power plants at home and abroad, the limestone/gypsum forced oxidation system has become the preferred wet flue gas desulphurization process.

 

Main pumps supplied for the FGD system in power plant

    Taking limestone/gypsum desulphurization process as an example, the main pump positions used in power plant FGD system are introduced below:

(1) Slurry recirculation pump: Send the slurry in the slurry tank to the nozzle to complete the spraying.

(2) Impulse suspending pump: Disturb the slurry to make the suspension uniform.

(3) Gypsum discharge pump: Send the gypsum slurry to the gypsum dehydration system.

(4) Limestone slurry pump: The preparation chamber limestone slurry is delivered to the absorber.

(5) Absorber sump pump: Send the slurry in the absorption area to the absorber or emergency slurry tank.

(6) Emergency slurry return pump: Return the emergency slurry to the absorber.

(7) Waste water cyclone feed pump: Transfer the waste water to the waste water cyclone.

(8) Process water pump: Provide shaft seal water and cooling water required for the operation of pumps and other equipment.

(9) Mist eliminator flushing pump: Flush the mist eliminator.
